On the 17th of March, The Langham Auckland was the host for this years New Zealand Champions of Cheese Awards, a prestigious event attended by the best cheese makers New Zealand has to offer. On the night, all attendees were waiting in anticipation to see who would take out the champion award in each category.
Over the years Thermaflo have enjoyed sponsoring the Washed Rind Cheese category. For the second year running, Over the Moon Dairy's Galactic Gold Cheese took out the award, making this the fifth time they have been crowned the Champion of Washed Rind Cheese since they started operation seven years ago. Along with the Champion of Washed Rind Cheese accolade, Sue Arthur and the team managed to take out an additional 10 medals, 2 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. Over the Moon's continued success is a testament to their dedication, they have worked hard to get where they are today and every award they have won just proves how talented they really are.
Producing 23,000kg of top quality, hand made, cheese per year its not a surprise to hear that the Over The Moon cheese makers have had their work cut out for them to meet the consumer demand. The work that they have been doing is absolutely amazing and it is an understatement to say that Sue is happy with the results. The cheeses they create are made using a collection of the highest quality, locally sourced buffalo, cow, goat and sheep milk. Although most of their cheeses are single milk cheeses they also produce several milk blends such as double delight brie which is made of cow cream and goat milk. They have achieved a lot in their seven years and they continue to grow bigger and better with each year that goes past
Over the years that Thermaflo have been sponsors, we have become very proud of many of the businesses associated with the Champions of Cheese Awards. This year was no acception, it was an excellent event and seeing companies we have worked with in the past take out numerous awards made it that much better. The team at Thermaflo feel very privileged to be apart of the Champions of Cheese Awards, every year we are excited to see how the industry is growing and the new products being produced.
