Kevin Gilbert

Kevin Gilbert

Business Development Director

 

Kevin has been MD at Thermaflo for over 20 years and has a strong commercial and sales background within the food process industry, the majority of his experience is in the dairy industry.

Over the years Kevin and his business partner, Mark Dykes, have established a solid foundation for the business to grow, this is based on sound ethics, strong governance and attracting and keeping the best staff.

Director of Innovation

Mark gained a Bachelor of Science (hons.) from the University of Canterbury in 1980 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Assurance from Massey University in 1987. These qualifications allowed Mark to work as a quality manager/officer for a number of companies such as Ruakara Research, Gallagher group and Fonterra prior to establishing Thermaflo in 1992.

As a director of Thermaflo, Mark is involved in the development of new process plants for clients in the dairy and food sectors, focusing on the Asian and other international markets.

Qualifications: B.Sc (hons.), Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Assurance 

Bryce Mackereth

Bryce Mackereth

Dairy Process Sales Specialist

 

Bryce is our technical salesperson specialising in dairy processing. He has an extensive background in sales and service management throughout the New Zealand industrial sector, with a strong focus on the dairy industry.

He understands the ins and outs of processes at the ground level, having worked as a maintenance coordinator, and as a site electrician. A jack of (almost) all trades, he also trained as a fitter/welder/machinist.

Dara Tan

Technical Sales & Parts Consultant

 

Dara joined the Thermaflo team in 2024 as our technical salesperson for parts.  Specialising in Alfa Laval fluid handling equipment and parts, along with PCM, and Andritz parts.

With experience in a former technical sales role (supplying electric motors, water pumps, gearboxes and valves), Dara brings a wealth of parts knowledge to the team.  In his previous role as a territory sales manager, he enjoyed travelling, meeting with people and providing the right solution for his customers.

Heath has joined Dara in our technical sales team for parts and spares.

 Robert Crocker

Robert Crocker

General Manager

In charge of our Health and Safety System, Robert has many years’ experience in Company Management, Business Systems, Operational Management, and evaluating business and personnel risks.

We use a system called PeopleSafe to help us manage our Health and Safety System. Robert has in-depth knowledge of the system, works directly with an external Health and Safety Contractor, and discusses unique challenges directly with Worksafe New Zealand.

Qualifications: Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management

 Rowena Huntingdon

Rowena Huntingdon

Administration & Financial Manager

 

Being the Admin Manager at Thermaflo, Rowena is in charge of doing creditors/debtors/wages etc. She finds the best part of her role is the importing/exporting of our specialised equipment and talking with our customers.

She enjoys working at Thermaflo because every job we do is different, no two days are the same and finds she enjoys working with such a great bunch of people.

Ange Bocock

Digital & Campaign Manager

 

Ange joined the Thermaflo team in 2020 and is responsible for Thermaflo’s marketing.

Originally from New Plymouth, Ange moved to Palmerston North to complete her degree in Marketing from Massey University. She’s previously worked as a small business marketing consultant and in the travel industry as a marketing manager.

A keen traveller, Ange has travelled throughout Europe, the UK, the USA, Australia, the pacific islands and around New Zealand.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Business Studies (Marketing) (Hons.)

James Conwell

James Conwell

Process Engineer (Design Team Leader)

 

James graduated from Massey University with a Btech (hons) degree in 2001. He has been involved in the sales, design and manufacture of systems and equipment for the food and feed industries for over 15 years.

James has been working for Thermaflo since 2008 where he has managed a multitude of diverse projects. James also owns and runs his own business manufacturing specialised food and feed processing equipment which is marketed and sold internationally.

Colin Painter

Colin Painter

Registered Industrial Electrician (Electrical Team Leader)

Colin has been working in the industrial electrical field for more than 25 years.

In that time has worked on many large factory plant installs throughout the country, as well as design and install of continuous plant improvement.

Qualifications: Current NZ electrical practising licence

Experience: Running many large Electrical projects, including pricing and pricing and design. Conversion of older PLC’s or relay logic to new PLC/Scada systems. Electrical panel component layout and design. Machine safety systems. Autocad electrical drawings and design. Pneumatic design and installation.

Additional Training: PLC and Scada knowledge, Intrinsic Safety and hazardous area equipment installations & maintenance, Basic PLC programming skills, Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.

Matt Black

Matt Black

Workshop Foreman (Mechanical Team Leader)

Matt has worked at Thermaflo for a number of years as a Fabricator Welder, and for the past six as Workshop Foreman.

As Foreman, Matt oversees the mechanical team, coordinates project delivery, and supervises on-site installs.

Qualifications:  Level 4 Light Fabrication engineering.

Experience:  Has Worked in the dairy industry as a fabricator/welder and equipment installer for the last 18 years. Eight of these as a manager.

Additional Training: Height safety, Confined space, Mobile elevated work platforms, Rigging and slinging, First Aid, Fire extinguisher and Forklift.

Stuart Elston

Senior Process Engineer

 

With more than 27 years experience in the dairy/food processing industry, Stu started off working at Goodman Fielder where he quickly climbing to the position of Supervisor.

While at Goodman Fielder Stu received a certificate in Dairy Technology from WIT and a diploma in Dairy technology from Massey University finishing top of his class in both Microbiology and Chemistry.

In 2011 Stu Joined the team at Thermaflo as a Senior Process Engineer, where his background in dairy processing ensures that each plant we design runs efficiently and reliably.

Qualifications: Certificate in Dairy Technology & Diploma in Dairy Technology

Experience: 27 years in dairy and food and beverage processing

Paul Berry

Technical Draftsperson

 

A well experienced technical draftsperson, Paul has extensive experience working with large teams putting together complicated and challenging projects.

An expert at 3D modelling, Paul understands that the models he builds eventually need to be built and maintained. His solutions are pragmatic and well thought out.

Jeremy Hill

Jeremy Hill

Process Engineer

 

As a commercial flight instructor in a former life, Jeremy has proven he is more than capable to focus on detail, and adhere to the highest standards.

With a career change that included more studying, Jeremy completed a B. Eng – Biotechnology Degree and is a fully qualified Chemical Engineer.

Previously working for companies like Fonterra and Goodman Fielder and Collagen Solutions (formerly Southern Lights Biomaterials).

Alicia Grobler

Alicia Grobler

Process Engineer

Alicia joined the Thermaflo team at the end of 2022 as a process engineer.

She has 10 years’ experience as a project engineer specialising in water and energy efficiency projects. She holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering, Project Management Professional Certification and is a member of Water New Zealand.

Terence Malan

Process Engineer / Project Manager

Joining the Thermaflo team at the start of 2023, Terence has more than 20 years’ engineering and project management experience as National Technical Manager for the largest waste management company in South Africa.

The Electrical & Automation Team

Zane Brookes

Zane Brookes

Registered Industrial Electrician & Automation Engineer

Zane has been an electrician for the past 15 years, working in all aspects – domestic, commercial and industrial.

He has been working with Thermaflo since 2014 where he is an industrial electrician and has trained to be qualified automation engineer.

Qualifications: Current NZ electrical practising licence

Experience:

  • Commercial electrical – new installs, renovations, ventilation, air conditioning, BMS
  • Industrial electrical – Design and install new plant as well as maintain existing. Including electrical and automation work in food processing factories, council wastewater systems, extrusion machines, gantry cranes and galvanising plants to name a few.
  • Electrical design/build and automation of OEM machines.
  • PLC, HMI, SCADA and data acquisition experience with Rockwell, Omron, Schneider, Idec, Mitsubishi, Unitronics, Brainchild, iFix and Ignition products.

Additional Training: Rockwell, Omron and Schneider PLC training.

 Charl Fourie

Registered Industrial Electrician

Charl is a New Zealand registered industrial electrician.

Between 2005 and 2007 Charl took on a number of projects for various different electrical agencies while he lived in London.

In 2007 Charl moved back to South Africa where he developed his skills working for Design Engineering Automation & Aeronautical International.

Upon moving to New Zealand Charl worked for Manawatu Precision Enterprises (MPE) for 5 years before he became a valuable member of the Thermaflo Industrial Electrical team.

Qualifications: Current NZ electrical practising licence

Additional Training: Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas, Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance skills.

Lyndon Roberts

Lyndon Roberts

Registered Industrial Electrician

 

Lyndon has 7 years of experience as an electrician, where he’s worked extensively in water treatment and food & beverage plants. His particular specialisation is in instrumentation and PLC, and he’s training to become an automation engineer.

Outside of work, Lyndon can be found on his snowboard, mountain bike or getting stuck into a DIY project.

Dominic Lawrence

Dominic Lawrence

Fabricator Welder

 

Dom has his Level 4 in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked at Steelfort Engineering for 2 and a half years as a Stainless Steel Fabricator, Aqua Heat NZ Ltd for 6 years doing Colt Manufacturing / Flypress Operating and in the Weta Workshop in Wellington as a Fabricator on high speed camera racks.

Since joining Thermaflo in 2015 Dom has become an invaluable part of the Thermaflo Fabrication team.

Qualifications: Level 4 Mechanical engineering.

Maynard Bulloch

Maynard Bulloch

Fabricator Welder

Maynard joined Thermaflo in 2020 and brings over 19 years of experience as a fabricator welder to the team.

During his 17 years with Etech, he was involved in several unique projects, including welding sculptures for the Britomart train station and fabricating rocket deflectors for the New Zealand aerospace industry.

Outside of work, Maynard can be found on his bike or motorcycle. He’s also a volunteer for the NZRT4 rescue team, where he specialises in flood, swift water or high angle rope rescue emergencies.
